Tim Anderson has degrees in economics and international politics, and a doctorate on the political economy of economic liberalisation in Australia. He researches independent development, rights in development and regional integration in the Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

He has published more than 60 articles and chapters in a wide range of academic journals and books, as well as many essays in online journals. His last two books were: Land and Livelihoods in Papua New Guinea (2015) and The Dirty War on Syria (2016), now published in ten languages (English, German, Arabic, Swedish, Bosnian, Spanish, Farsi, Italian, Greek and Icelandic).
